The original name of the board game created by Milton Bradley in 1860 was “The Checkered Game of Life.” The updated 1960 version called “The Game of Life’ was created to celebrate the game’s 100th anniversary. The game is commonly called “Life”, so any of these responses would be acceptable. The American Institute of Learning and Human Development has a history of the game’s evolution. Also, here is an excerpt from an 1864 review of the original game from Scientific American: “This game represents, as indicated by the name, the checkered journey of life, and is intended to present to the minds of the young, the various vices and virtues with which they will come in contact in their journey through life, and to illustrate the effects of each in a manner that will make a lasting impression on their minds, the whole being embodied in an attractive and entertaining amusem*nt well calculated to interest youth and adults.”
